I was thinking simply an area for attachments at first, but you only get 20 GB of space. But what do you expect for free?

Why not just create file sharing threads and upload the data to extern file hosters? It would be a cheap way without much work to doo.

That way we don't have to bother with bandwidth usage. Meaning we can upload full sized completely rendered regions. Probably not cities due to dependency issues...

Me and Mayorm have been talking about that, but an interesting problem is, well, if we decide to use a file sharing site, could we automate the uploading process? I mean, would an Admin have to upload the files? Have any ideas?

On the LEX you have to have a seperate lex account to download and upload, do it with Media fire or wherever the hosting site is...

Well, I don't think that we could set up a file exchange at Mediafire. The files themselves should be able to be uploaded there, but well, a full exchange? I don't know how that would work.

Please someone try and find a way to remove or at least change these ads ot be text only or find a new host.

Of course it isn't so bad if you use Firefox+Adblock Plus.

Move the site over a couple of advertisements? Unfortunately, I don't think that we can remove these -- I didn't set them up, and I don't think that Mayorm did either. I think is a darkbb/forummotion thing, and they were the ones to set those ads up, so I am powerless to remove them. I don't think that this warrants a move for the site, however.

I was joking when I said move the site.

But yeah if it were possible to convert these ads to text only, cuz I personally find some of them very odd and illogical, such as "1 New Crush" or "You have one new message"

The New Message ones are something that a Simmania member that is logged in shouldn't fall for, considering there is a link at the navbar that says "You have No New Messages, or You have X New Messages.

I think that Forumotion is doing this to every site that is somehow related to Forumotion. Cuz Servimg, which is one of Forumotion's image hosting sites for site owners has the same ads on it.

I don't mind these ads, now that I have Adblock Plus installed.

The ads are a new requirements from forumotion on all free forums, unfortunately, the only way to get rid of them is to pay a monthly fee.

Well, the ads are kind of annoying. Instead of just paying that monthly fee, wouldn't it really be easier to move the site?

Nope.

I don't think that I can do anything about the ads. They are really annoying, but please understand that this is not a Simmania thing, but a darkbb thing that Simmania admins are unable to control.

Well it IS possible though. But this only works with PhpBB2 and PunBB forums, which this one is PhpBB2. So it can be done, just not legally.

Well it appears the ads are text only now so that is good.

I hope that these ads stay text-only. I get a little tired of seeing these "This is not a joke! You are the 10,000th visitor! Click here for your free computer" ads. I hate them.

I'm not willing to break the law in order to remove ads, however.
