I have been looking at the Developer Diaries the last few days and comparing the activity of that section of the forums to others. And well, I'm a huge fan of CJs, DDs and stuff like that, and it kinda bothers me that section has low activity. Any ideas on what could done to boost that section's activity level.

Not really, but I think the problem there is people aren't starting DDs or commenting on them, which, imo, is fine. But the best way to boost activity is perhaps have stuff such as "classic" DDs such as what SC4d uses. But the best way is to get more DDs and more people to comment them

Well, Josh leads the DDOTM section. I was actually considering suggesting to Josh, merely as a suggestion, that, so long as Mayorm is OK with it, that DDOTM winners get their DD as a sticky for six months or so. Another idea that adds to this is to have it so that there is a profile field where DDOTMs can be placed. DDOTM winners would have something in their profile for it. That would probably better promote the DDOTMs and get people interested in the DDs here, I would think.

I was also suggesting calling them city journals instead of developer diaries. More people probably identify with the "city journal" term than with the one that we use. It might potentially get more people looking into them, but I really don't know.

These are just suggestions, of course.

As to changing the name of thed section, many sites have other names for CJs, for example SC4d has Mayor Dairies, and CSGF has Urban Biographies. So I don't think that makes a difference, plus it makes for a unique section of the forums as I believe we are the only SC4 forum with that name for our Cjs

By the way, most of you probably know about the "easter eggs" in the ranks, and you've probably heard that they were and 4,000 posts. We'll, I've decided to make it a little more interesting. The 1,000 is still where it's at at the moment, but the 4,000 post one was moved to an unknown location. (You'll have to guess where it is. ) I decided I wanted to make it a little more interesting than it was before, so I just wanted to make note of that so that people won't wonder where the easter egg is when people start reaching high post counts. (Actually, they'll wonder even more, but it won't be a surprise when they don't find it at 4,000.) I will say this too: If you want to find it, make sure you check your rank after every single post, and be consistent about it. They'll be gone after just one post, so if you aren't careful, you might actually miss it.

I've also made a couple of small edits to the ranks, but nothing too serious. "Frequent visitor" (starts at 75 posts) was changed to "getting involved" and "big city planner" was shortened to "city planner". Occasionally, changes like that will probably be made to the ranks.

If I may make one small suggestion, delete the WWII bat team thread's aint no way I can bring the team back

don't know about DELETING them.. I would just move them into the archives if there are archives. And then remove the WW2 team board.

Allow me a few kind words along with a suggestion...

I love SimMania. I like that it's an actual community, and that you don't feel lost in the crowd. I like small and cozy, and that's the atmosphere we have here.
I like a place to show off what I've done in SC4. I love how a lot of DD's here focus on the actual building of a city rather than photoshopping it to death.

I wish though, that if we wanted to show off what we did in other games, without cluttering up the general discussion board, that we could do that too. That's why I really have been wanting a board for other games, so that this site not only attracts a larger audience but offers more freedom as far as discussion goes.

I'm sorry for completely procrastinating on this. (new smiley for :/ by the way)

I got it set up so that the registration and login links will only appear to those not logged in. Those link will be removed for those who are logged in. Please let us know if there are any bugs with the new navigation widget.

Not a suggestion, more a glitch. Whenever I post in a topic, after posting it always says there is a new reply, despite the fact it is my reply. Not sure if that is intentional or a glitch, or just the forum software.

I'd very much like the option to choose themes. I can't really stand the poster-to-the-right layout that this forum has.

I'll see what I can do about that. We are going to be doing a complete revamp soon, I like that idea.

The poster info to the right took me a long time to get used to as well so I know how you feel
