Update 22- Road Trip Day 1:

Today we will start our road trip in the outskirts of the metro area, in a small farm community of Crawville that is home to about 100 people. Our route is marked by a green arrow/line on the road to show where we are going.

We pull out of the driveway of a bed and breakfast and head over to grab a bite to eat at the local Tim Horton's, after getting a nice breakfast we head west on Rt. 34.

Quad Cities Region - Page 5 Crawville-Jan9051288129806

Within a minute we are out into the countryside, we are heading east toward the more developed parts of the metro area.

Quad Cities Region - Page 5 Crawville-Jan29061288129905

As you can see Rt. 34 carries a lot of traffic, unfortunately no major interstates have been built near this area. Soon we find ourselves at our first intersection, and we blow by it at 40mph.

Quad Cities Region - Page 5 Crawville-Feb4061288129930

We keep heading east on Rt. 34 and soon enter the city limits of Apple Grove, another farming community but much larger than Crawville.

Quad Cities Region - Page 5 AppleGrove-Oct241071288130022

We see and end to the farms for a little bit as Rt. 34 enters the town of Apple Grove, we come to an intersection with Apple Drive, we turn left continueing east on Rt. 34 and head through the neighborhoods of the town.

Quad Cities Region - Page 5 AppleGrove-Nov171071288130164

We come to another intersection and turn right continueing east on Rt. 34, as we head into the small of downtown Apple Grove.

Quad Cities Region - Page 5 AppleGrove-Nov231071288130189

We pass through downtown Apple Grove continueing east on Rt. 34, and soon pass through the whole town, and head back into the country side.

Quad Cities Region - Page 5 AppleGrove-Dec81071288130235

Not soon after we pass through the town, Rt. 34 comes to an end. We turn left onto Fairground Rd. and head south, heading for Rt. 202.

Quad Cities Region - Page 5 AppleGrove-Dec141071288130269

We come to Rt. 202 and turn right onto the on ramp

Quad Cities Region - Page 5 AppleGrove-Dec211071288130301

Rt. 202 soon takes into one of the many industrial areas that surround modern day New Chatham

Quad Cities Region - Page 5 AppleGrove-Sep121101288130607

And traveling east on Rt. 202 we soon find ourselves within the bustling areas of the Quad Cities, as we race through the suburbs of New Chatham.

Quad Cities Region - Page 5 NewChatham-Feb134011288130810

Quad Cities Region - Page 5 NewChatham-Mar74011288130895

We soon start to see many interesting sights, as well as signs for I-27. We take the exit for I-27 North, unfortunatley it is nearing 5:00pm and the Quad Cities Rush hour traffic is terrible and would hold us up for hours.

Quad Cities Region - Page 5 NewChatham-Sep254021288131183

We take the first exit, after getting onto I-27, for Caremvall Rd. We are in the suburb of Winston which is a very safe area, and with the time being 4:40pm I decide to hold us up here for the night. Luckily we spot a Hampton Inn which is conveintly located across from a police station making our 1 night stay safer.

Interesting idea. One of my favorite journals used this too, have you ever read "Taxi Driver: Alarconia Behind the Windshield" by TekindusT?

Update 22 Continued- Road Trip Day 2:

Note that all road sign pictures in this update were made from dfnva's Winchester CJ. All credit to the road signs go to him, I just copied his pics and change the words.

We will begin right where we left off. We wake up to the bustling noise of New Chatham area traffic and other city life. We check out of our hotel and begin heading north on Winston Blvd. trying to get back onto I-27. Winston is one very busy suburb since it is about 5 miles from downtown New Chatham.

Quad Cities Region - Page 5 NewChatham-Nov124031289060701

We turn right onto Dandendarn Rd. heading toward I-27, we need to go this way because of Winston's many one way roads. and we come to I-27, we head north on I-27 which will take us right into downtown New Chatham. And we come to the interchange with I-327 which acts as a beltway to get around downtown, and it goes into the eastern suburbs of New Chatham.

Quad Cities Region - Page 5 NewChatham-Dec184031289060894

We continue on I-27, and see one of the QCTA lines that serves New Chatham, we also enter into the area known as SODO which is short for South Downtown, SODO is home to some of the main TV and Radio stations of New Chatham. The buildings also begin to get taller, and taller.

Quad Cities Region - Page 5 NewChatham-Jan14041289060957
oops fogot to edit out the options.

we start seeing some very important road signs as we enter downtown.

Quad Cities Region - Page 5 Sign1
The road sign was not made by me, I just changed the words on the signs. Credit goes to dfnva.

Quad Cities Region - Page 5 NewChatham-Jan74041289061025

We keep heading further into downtown, and soon we pass through the Stadium District, where QC Bank Arena and Chatham Energy Field. We also come to an interchange with the Ralph Markinson Freeway. Ralph Markinson was a army soldier from New Chatham who died in plane crash in 1990.

Quad Cities Region - Page 5 NewChatham-Jan304041289061113

We continue heading north on I-27 further into downtown, and we see some more signs.

Quad Cities Region - Page 5 Sign2
I did not make the signs, they are copied from dfnva's CJ, I just changed all the words.

Quad Cities Region - Page 5 NewChatham-Feb214041289061194

We soon come to where downtown New Chatham gives way to the Riviera district, which is where many wealthy apartments and condos are located. We pass the interchange for Ale Pinillos Highway, which is named after one of New Chatham's greatest senators, he was the senator who passed the bill to allow all these skyscrapers we are seeing.

Quad Cities Region - Page 5 NewChatham-Feb244041289061215

These are very expensive apartments, the people who live in this area are so wealthy there are five police stations in this area to protect all this property from crime.

Quad Cities Region - Page 5 NewChatham-Mar124041289061303

The Riviera District is located in the suburb of La Roche, sadly we come to the border between La Roche and Bel Guarde, where we leave off for this update while we stop for gas and food.

Update 23- A look at RTI

Renior Technical Institute is an older university in Renior. Recently the university completed some upgrades, and construction projects, Which included wrecking down the older classrooms and dorms, and rebuilding them. The university competes in 6 D3 sports in the QCCAA (Quad Cities College Athletic Association), the six sports are (Mens and Womens) basketball, soccer, track and field, lacrosse, plus baseball, and softball.

Quad Cities Region - Page 5 Renoir-Oct261331293057706
The current view of the RTI campus

The empty land shown in the picture above is owned by the university, which plans to build more classrooms, and dormrooms. The university also has plans to build an indoor arena complex which would be home to a, pool, basketball arena, and hockey arena, as currently basketball games are played outside on the court in the center of the campus. The university has been growing rapidly with the addition of two QCTA bus routes to the campus, and the expansion of Moland Ave. which has an exit that puts you right next to the capus.

Quad Cities Region - Page 5 Renoir-Nov51331293057746
The Moland Ave. exit for RTI

The exit was supposed to be a trumpet interchange with another highway, but after building the two ramps shown the project was cancelled due to the RTI campus being right in the way of the planned highway.

Note: I should have some bigger and better updates coming up in about a month or two. My hockey season is slowly winding down so all I will have to focus on will be school work, so I should be able to squeeze in some time for SC4.

Update 24- ICHA Standings:

As the ICHA season wraps up for the O'mara Cup playoffs, the final standings have been released. It was a good competitive season with many of the new teams this year finishing toward the top. Port Charlotte University finished in first with the best overall record never losing a game, followed closely by Laurier Mountain State.

Quad Cities Region - Page 5 Standings

Coverage of the O'mara Cup playoffs will be shown to Quad Cities viewers on TV channels WADZ 5, and in Port Charlotte on PC Sports Network channel 37.

Work is now finished on the Tides Stadium. The stadium was home to the Quad Cities Sharks football franchise back in the early 60's but were moved out of the region. The stadium has since been closed, but was recently renovated for the new Quad Cities Cobras football franchise who are going to be an expansion franchise in the SFL.
