It's been 25 years since the first settler made Durham his home. Now the population is 32,613. The most populated city is Quynneth at 11,977. Greenstone's population is exactly 1,000 less than Quynneth's (no joke).

Rapid growth since 1975 has lead to a synoecism effect between Greenstone and Quynneth, Greenstone development has flooded over into the far west portions of Quynneth with farms lining the roads and rails between the two. The road bridge over Maypearl River was upgraded too, and a pedestrian bridge complaint with bridge height standards (high enough to allow a ferry to pass)

Greenstone is home to many of Durham's companies and businesses. Both cities are almost entirely mid to high class residents which the lower class living in outside cities such as Windfordshire and River Loop.

River Loop is extremely busy despite only having about 4,200 residents. Commuters from neighboring Windfordshire use the farm road into River Loop, and then turn on into the Quynneth connection. This makes the Maypearl River bridge in River Loop dangerous, and even the River Loop/Windfordshire connector is congested all the way into Windfordshire.

The terrain as well as the positioning are not ideal for an upgrade of this kind. Planning may take months to complete and much longer to build.

That's all for this update, comment away Razz

Teaser update.

Living in a gold mining town at 8,500 feet above sea level in the mountains... you have to admit.. who wouldn't want to live here?

Good updates, cheese. What is that lot in the teaser picture that's on the left side of the tracks?
The diagonals look good in Greenstone.

I certainly enjoy seeing the growth in your cities Very Happy

It sure seems like some of your roads are in need of upgrades, other than that everything looks good Smile

TC: this lot is the one
SL: If you could build the town IRL, that'd be great.
Mayorm: Central parkway is now RHW-6C.. oops.. spoiler Razz

A bit on info on Reading Mining Contractors.. (mind you, it's pronounced redding for the non british and everyone except TC)

Reading Mining Contractors was founded by residents of Reading after gold was discovered in the side of a mountain about 60km west of Greenstone. The GMP and RMC are working on a joint project, a railroad from Greenstone to Quynneth. The project began when the rail from Maypearl to Greenstone was at about 80% finished.

Reading is a mining town which is doomed for abandonment after the area has been stripped of its gold and ore deposits. The area isn't growing fast either, partly because of the steep and treacherous mountains and its remoteness. Although being 50km west of Greenstone, it still overlooks the area.. from 9km above.

Meanwhile, back in the Basin, the population is now 56,000. The DBDA has plans for a new motorway network to replace the overcrowded Central Parkway, as well as plans for a shuttle and bus network...

And a couple shots of all of Greenstone and Quynneth..

Greenstone's population is currently 15,813, Quynneth's is 21,260.

Nice cities. Too bad the RHW 6-C doesn't have a bridge. The cities look great. Lots of trees, and I like that. Smile

Hi everyone,

So in short, I inadvertently deleted Durham. The good news is, there was an upcoming Durham v2 anyway. If a mod wants to lock this after v2 is posted, go ahead. But I would like to keep this as a public archive though.

btw.. backups next time Rolling Eyes
