With permission from the SSS and the administration team, I bring you Simmania's People's Choice Awards. These awards are very similar to the trixies, where different people nominate other people from their SimCity community for awards. These awards will be presented then to the public after nominations are dealt with and are closed.

After the awards, you may think that this event is long over. But it's not! Like Simtropolis, winners will be getting a little medal for each award they win under their avatar! If you win an award, you will be getting an award. If you get two, you will get two (both in this year's color scheme, which is a jade green and burgundy). You will hold onto these forever! Next year, you could be piling more on!

Nominations are a snap, all you need to do is send me (k50) a PM! Use this template for each nomination you send...

  • Exact username of the member
  • Award category you are nominating for
  • A brief explanation why you nominated the person; this is not required but strongly recommended (certain quotes will be revealed with the award, so make it good!)

Awards will be revealed and medals will be programmed into the user's account information box on Monday, December 20. If the deadline for nominations is bumped back, this will also be bumped back.

To ensure your nominations count, please abide by these very simple guidelines.
  • You may nominate up to 3 different people for each category. You will get a notice if you exceed the limit to revise the nomination.
  • Each Simmania member may be nominated for up to 3 different awards. You will get a notice if you exceed the limit to revise the nomination.
  • Do not nominate yourself or tell others to vote for you. Even if the person you told to vote for you was stubborn enough to listen you, the votes will still be discarded. Don't waste your time doing this.
  • Under no circumstance should you make a doppelgänger (double account) for the sole reason to vote for you. Your votes will be discarded and the second account will be indefinitely banned. Your main account will also be at risk for a ban for a few days at the discretion of the administration team.
  • A friendly reminder to not post your votes here; votes posted on this thread will be deleted by an admin, you MUST send ME a private message.


Our goal for this inaugural Simmania People's Choice Awards is 20 people participating in nominating others and 150 nominations in total, which is 7.5 nominations per the 20 users, which is BY FAR not the minimum, so nominate more than this!

Here are ELEVEN already chosen categories. You are strongly urged to nominate people for these categories. You may also add your own, as many as you would like, because I am that nice Razz One rule with that though, Please post the custom category here so I can review it and others can see it so this category becomes popular.

Like the trixies there is only one winner per category, there are no co-winners. If there is a tie the award will go to the person who would otherwise be leaving the year with less awards. If there is still a tie, it will be at my discretion via random number generator. This is the most fair way.

K50: One question: Are you intending to run this as a branch of the SSS or as something independent? Whichever you choose doesn't matter, but if you want to do it from within the SSS, please let me know so that I can edit SSS threads with the update.

NOTE: This has been set as a global announcement. I intend to change it to a normal announcement or sticky or something like that in a couple of weeks. K50 and I want people to see this thread.

Well most people aren't nominating more than a few people. You can nominate three people for each category, and you can nominate each person into three categories. You should have lots of opportunities IMO but so far I am the only one to take advantage of them Razz

UPDATE:

We are VERY short on nominations (at 16% right now) and there is less than two weeks left to nominate! Remember that you can nominate each person three times and each category can get three different people! At the moment, most categories are tied between users. The others are each separated by one vote if there are other people in the category. One vote makes a GIGANTIC difference at this point, so please! send in several nominations!

The nomination portion of the Awards are still scheduled to close on December 18.

I hate to sound this way, but I doubt we'll reach the goal. We might have if we started in like, beginning of november, but as of right now I highly doubt it is possible. Sad

Well we still have plenty of time, josh (thats the good news)

Also, WE ARE ALL TO BLAME for not reaching the goal. Remember that we are all supposed to nominate eight people to nominate and so far the average is only five nominations per person, not eight. And since no new nominations were sent in since the last update, one vote will still make a giant impact, especially on categories that still don't have a single nomination.

More than two weeks remain, but don't take your time! Send in the nominations!

By the way, I am currently preparing reward fields for the profiles here. Currently, I am working to set a field in the profile that only moderators can change, labeled as "peoples choice:", similar to the MOTM field. Please give me time to get these fields right. I am also working to fix the colors for them. For example, you can see what is in the "MOTM" field, but not the "MOTM:" part of it because that part is white, which is the background color. I am working on that also, so please give me time to get it right. (Don't expect to see the new field until the winners are announced. It doesn't show up unless there is a value for it. )

I other words, I am fixing color problems with the fields and also I am preparing for the the awards to be announced.

EDIT: The colors have been changed now. I'm not sure if grey will work, but I want to give it a try.

Also, please send in your nominations! I've sent in ten so far.
