Hamilton I could see, but the problem with that is its located between Toronto and Buffalo who have the rights to the surrounding areas. Which I think is part of the reason we have seen previous attempts blocked to move a team there.
As for Markham, I think they would be better off building an arena and trying to attract an ECHL team. Which would be cool to see an ECHL affiliate of the Leafs, AHL afiliate, and the Leafs all in the same market. However even with that its a long shot, because the ECHL will already have the open market of Brampton next year, when the Battalion move out this summer. If they wanted to try for a Canadian franchise again. (Victoria Salmon Kings)
Also like I said in my last post, the best case scenario right now is Pheonix moves to Quebec City, and Winnipeg is moved into the Western Conference. I think that Hamilton would be best considered for expansion along with Seattle. But for right now I believe the league has to work on stabalizing its current franchises before any new markets are brought in.
