Three years ago our site founder mayorm decided to enter ST chat for the first time. However, after spending time in ST chat and keeping up activity on Simsports he simply needed a safe place away from ST.
Thus Simmania was born... on July 7, 2009.
For several weeks it was just mayorm and Admin and promotion on ST basically went nowhere. After one last attempt to promote the site in ST chat he found a person by the name of Blakesterville in the chat that day. As you all know "blake" is still active here and many of our current threads and discussions have been started by him. He has played a significant role in keeping the site around for as long as it has.
After effort on both member's part on promoting the site a member named yoda87 joined. He was very active in the beginning however since has left us. He does however occasionally, but rarely visit us and participate in discussions. Another member by the name of Crochunter joined, but has since deleted his account. dcmetro (now known as edge) was also one of our founding members.
The site continued to be very inactive, sometimes as little as only 1 message a week. Mayorm's activity in ST chat increased as well as his promotion of the site. And then one day he found a room called Simlabs.
Simlabs was home to several of our currently active members today and without them this site might not have been around today. This inclued bben (Brian), who still is a very helpful and very active person both in chat and on the forums. He is also responsible for our current day Simmania BAT Team. Other helpdesk/simlabs members that joined around that time was reaper88, brenn21, meister1235, and tommy7777. Some of these members are inactive however.
After these members joined several new ones had continuously came in, posting was increasing and the site became more and more active. This is around the time I (Cheeseguy) joined, outposting all of the current members combined in as little as two weeks, and continuing to hold the highest post count to this day.
In 2010 we held our first SMPCA (Simmania People's Choice Awards) which increased activity even more. It was around this time that Blakesterville was promoted to admin and several new additions were made to our staff. While 2011 was mostly uneventful, the second annual SMPCA took place and activity steadily increased along with the amount of members.
2012 has so far been an active year. The site reached 100 members on April 9, 2012, with Towncrafter being the lucky 100th member. He is still active here, especially in the forum games, which have become the staple of our community. 2012 has also seen record breaking activity, sometimes over 75 posts in a single day. On July 7, 2012, Simmania held its 3rd anniversary seminar and chat party, where it set a record for chat members, which is now at nine.
The site is now on twitter and has broken a record number of members online which is now at 62. K50, our newest admin, is working on Simmania v3, although it's being kept a surprise.
