Yeah, that is why I didn't go back to phpbb3 with forumotion. That is what I started on, went to Invision, and now PunBB. If Simmania is looking to freshen up before if (might) move, I would highly suggest going with PunBB. Looks somewhat like phpbb3 and has template editing.

I have seen forumotion doesn't allow phpbb3 editing because of copyright, but I may be mistaken. Not sure if that comment was from a staff member of the forumotion help forum or not.

I edited the template to add the tabbed statistics to mine, was wroth playing with it. I have a test forumotion forum I do anything on before implementing on the live site.

One free host I found, and actually liked more, was SMFNew. Runs SMF 2, but more limited than forumotion. No modding, fewer templates. But a lot of the templates are premium ones from DZinerstudio. You can get full access via their upgrade to paid hosting. Also, this is a biggie, they allow you to purchase your database (somewhere around 50ish dollars if I remember right.) This would be great if you decided to move from them, unlike the locked fortress your database is with forumotion.

But I agree, if Simmania does move it would be interesting to see it on a traditional host, if possibly. I am usingh a free web host to experiment on. Got phpbb and SMF running on them without breaking things too many times.

Thing about regular hosts though is.. you've gotta pay for a domain and for the hosting. Yes, there are free hosts but they're all horrible in general.
And I have to agree.. I'd change to punbb to refresh the general overall artistic style and layout that the site has been using. It may just be me.. but after a couple of years things get boring

All day long chatbox party
Random Awards for Random Things
And we will also have a special chatbox event at 7:00pm EST hosted by Mayorm. This special event will include a retelling of the Simmania's history, Mayorm will also be releasing never before seen site stats, and if there is time; a brief Q & A session.

All this and more will be going on that day. Other events are expected to be announced soon as well.

Sounds exciting! Will have ro make sure I pop in on the festivities.

MOTMs will be starting back up next month. We REALLY need nominations for them, so anyone willing to send in nominations will be a real help. They won't be officially back up until next month, but you can go ahead and send nominations early to "MOTM" (without the quotes) and I will get them. I'll be gone for a trip next week, but after that I can go ahead and start working on getting things back up.

Also, if you want to nominate more than one person, feel free. Just don't nominate yourself, please.

The chat seminar tonight went great. We broke our record chat attendance (thanks rocky!) which now puts our record at nine. Mayorm, bben, simlink, towncrafter, 7499275, frex_ceafus, tigerbuilder, and myself attended the entire seminar, while elavery was there for the Q/A session.

K50 is working on Simmania v3, and I'm hoping to add another board for a favorite game of mine.

I came pretty close, I was about to click the delete forum link.

I was thinking of finding ways to get donations to charities by using this site, for example cancer research

I'm in the process of updating the story thread so I'll post when that's done.

Now as far as my activity here goes, like I said before, I have a lot of RL issues to take care of as well as other projects, so although I was an active participant during the seminar you may not see much of me.. until I can get everything else taken care of.
