(RTA) At 9:00 PM Monday night, just 24 hours since the last ARF terror bombing, the prime minister of Aoyama called for an immediate press conference at parliament. He stated the subject was in the matter of the fate of the last few SBWC playoffs which due to the attacks were halted and postponed indefinitely. Aoyama’s TerrorWatch level was reinstated to “Red/Critical” in light of the severe security breaches in Aoyama’s enforcement infrastructure.
According to a Supersports representative, they said the games will be hosted by the network via SuperSports worldwide subsidiary, SuperSports International in Los Angeles. Temporary satellite linkups will also be used to distribute the games.
Earlier that day, according to the Aoyaman Sports Board, the last two SBWC games will be slated on December 22 and 23 to allow players to fly back to their hometown before the start of Christmas Eve. “It’s the very least we could do for the players” said an ASB chairman Hideki Yasuda. “This week really sucked. At least let’s let the players go home before the holidays.”
Why the rush? Simply put it was the Prime Minister’s message. During the conference, Prime Minister Kitaro stated adamantly:
“These attacks were horrific, but we mustn’t show those fascists any fear. Terrorism is all about making fear, fear that puts us to our very knees. To this day our fellow allies, the Americans face this problem; cowering since 9/11 that so-called “Islamic terrorists” will come over America’s borders to blast the dogs off this planet. Terrorists bring terror to bring fear. If we show them fear, they win. No bombs will turn my decision to cancel the games. The SBWC games stay in Aoyama. We won’t give in. We’ll never give in.”
