After like 10 years since the first release of sc4 and a ton of crappy sequels from EA... frankly wouldn't expect there to be another one, considering it's been a decade and sc4 isn't the popular and active game it was.

Unless maxis is trying to compete with other modernised city sims, of course. Wouldn't even count on that myself.

btw, Glass-box engine? I haven't seen anything about that, even after multiple google searches. Unless this is one that maxis is creating.
Another thing... even if there was another SC... we've done more with sc4 than any game I know of... it wouldn't be necessary.

btw... I translated that gamestar page and apparently a lot of this stuff is "confirmed". Unless there's an actual source FROM maxis about this, I wouldn't believe it. Not including that there were absolutely no credible links to validate it.

It's real. From what it seems it's actually maxis too and not another EA spinoff.
I just hope that EA doesn't decide to make it Origin exclusive.. as a part of that stupid stunt that EA has been pulling as of late.
This is likely just what it takes to revive this, very frankly, dead SC4 community too (i mean SC4 as a whole, not just SM)

All goes to show how great of a company Maxis is. The only other company I know of that would create a sequel to a game after such a long time is valve (HL3/HL2EP3, and TF2)

I think I probably will, but I'm not entirely certain yet. I think it'll be a good game, but I don't want to spend a lot on it just yet. You guys have to remember to treat it as a new game, and not compare it to SimCity4, because it was never meant to be like SC4. What are you all so worried about? City size? I hope you guys reconsider based on the pretty warm reviews of players in the beta program and what people say about it after release.

No don't fall for their AMA cr@p The game is not what the community is looking for

Neither was the original SimCity. It was the first of its kind, and people loved it. I'm not "falling for AMA crap." I'm analyzing the aspects of the game and watching the statements of Maxis developers. Obviously, they're paying attention, otherwise they wouldn't even acknowledge complaints, which is the typical EA response. You may not think it's what you're looking for, but it may be a great game even so.

As long as maxis is involved some good will come of it it seems...

I think you focus too much on the shortcomings. I'd rather wait and see for myself instead of try to compare it to SC4 because its obviously nothing like SC4. Is it better or worse? Who knows at this point. You can predict all you want but whether or not it actually is or not is still unknown until you try it for yourself. I'm happy with SC4 now, so whether or not this new SimCity will be better, who knows at this point.

And "not what the community is looking for?" If you're looking for a better and improved SC4, then there's hundreds, thousands of mods at your disposal for that. Think weather is missing? There was a mod that was just released for that. More network options? Try NAM. There's never going to be a game like SC4. End of story.

And falling for AMA crap? They're listening, whether you want to acknowledge that or not. This isn't your typical EA present here. Why? Because it's Maxis. People talk all the time about how great Maxis is and now you're calling it AMA crap? Seriously? Believe me, there are many things that have been said about the game so far that really turn me away and I've made that clear, but it might not be such a big problem after all. Just because its not what you're looking for in particular and it doesn't look very appealing at first glance doesn't mean its not a great game, and I have high hopes for it myself, but, once again, we'll just have to wait and see.

Don't get me wrong though, I do really hate EA, but this really isn't a typical case.

After watching some of the youtube previews and game tutorials SimcityEA is posting, the game itself looks good.

What we have to understand is that SC4 has become its own game with all the custimization out there right now. I think both SC5 and SC4 will coexsist. The good thing is that SC5 will most importantly bring in new players who are just getting into the franchise, who will find the online communities as we did a while ago. It will create a new and expanded fanbase, and will also provide some good fun like a video game is meant to provide.

Oh man, SC4 vanilla. Compared to now... yuk!
The problem I foresee with customization is a lot of people who have the necessary skills to produce the awesome content we have for SC4 are giving up on SC2013. So it could mean it will take a long time (SC4 discoveries still being made 10 years in) for CC to show up, or at least to a standard we are used to.

Do I think CC will never happen? No. There are new people getting interested in the franchise/genre. And look at CXL. It now has a moderately successful modding community.

However, will I buy the game right out of the gates? With an awesome TS3 EP coming in June, I'll be saving my money for that. So for the foreseeable future I won't be buying the game unless I have a huge change of opinion.

I agree. I'm not going to waste my money either immediately after release given that it is as bad as people are making it out to be.

And I do agree modding will happen, albeit limited.

Well, I talked to some members who have played the Beta Version (Kiwi Will [Republicmaster]). They didn't like it much so I'm staying with SC4

I probably will stay with SC4 as well. If the open up modding without approval for sandbox mode, then I'll consider it and that's if they drop the price tag too

Lol that's a definite no XD I for one won't be buying the game anytime soon, my laptop isn't good enough. If I could, I would though. The game looks and feels amazing from the short amount of time I could actually experience it. There are some inherent problems to be sure, but hopefully those will be fixed/diminished by the time I have suitable hardware to consider buying it. In other news, I figured out that my laptop can indeed play TS3
