After months of dealing with unreasonable lag, very high response times, and constant server crashes, I think it's safe to say that having a new server for the chat is long overdue. It's taken me a few days to finish configuring it, but it looks like we're good to go on the new server, and the response times in chat are so much better it's hard to believe. The URL has changed, however, so if you've bookmarked the chat, make sure to go to the new URL instead. Other than that, although I've done limited testing so far, it looks like the new server will be much more stable.

I've pretty much copied the same files from the old chat, so login info for moderators is the same as before. click here to access the new chat. The old URL will no longer work.

EDIT: I ran a stress test equivalent to 50 people online, and the server kept up very well, so the lag should be much better now. Since I had to configure the server entirely from scratch, I may have made a mistake, so if you notice any bugs, please let me know here.

Everytime I leave for an extended period of time something moves to a new server, URL, etc. Nice work Blake!

The filecave is next. I've already begun the process of debugging the moved copy, and trust me, it's way faster. We'll also have a much better filesize limit. The host doesn't restrict what I can do there, so I'm thinking we could set it to 15 or 20MB and it would be reasonable.

Nice to know chat has a new server. I lag for me was really bad before so that's why I haven't been in chat. I'm in chat now and I'll try to be there a little more often, but I'm not promising anything.
