Welcome to Towncraft, the DD of Towncrafter.
In this Diary I will show the towns I am making. I like to show pictures of how a town grows so prepare for pictures of the same town through the years.

I will start with a town I've already been showing in the Rural Towns thread.

This is Wickham. Wickham is in the County of Wicke in the Province of Gallifrey. (The name Gallifrey comes from Doctor Who and I have used it before and these towns are just a continuation of that.) Gallifrey Province was growing and wanted to lure settlers into the more boring flattish areas of Gallifrey so they built a Highway. When they crossed the Wicke River they called that district Wickham and took the highway through the district and stopped just north in the North Wickham District. Farmers came to Wickham and soon a town was growing.

We start this DD in Game Year 33. The town started south of the Wicke River but by GY33 had pushed north and East across the river. Wickham currently has a hospital, a clinic, a school, a library, and a college. Industry includes farming and some warehouses and factories.

I will try to update at least once a week, but sometimes I might do more often, sometimes less often.

Love the 'ruralness' of this place, also good to see that you're not using the old grid layout.

I have some pictures from Wickham North, Gransden, and Tolston.
Wickham North District is north of Wickham District. The Highway goes from a 4 lane road to a 2 lane road in Wickham North.
Gransden is East of Wickham North and is where Gransden Brook and Eyre Brook join the Wicke River.
Tolston is south of Wickham and is where an east to west highway begins at the Wicke Highway.

I might show you a picture of the region next time.
I've had sc4 ever since it first came out 9 years ago but this is the first time I've successfully built cities with fitting into a region in mind. I was still used to building cities that didn't really fit well with the other cities.

Wickham is on a medium sized tile, but the ones I showed today are all on small city tiles. Most of my cities that I've built before are on small city tiles. I like building in small spaces.

I love that last picture, I love the one highway ends in a circle.

Also I must say that for some reason with the star end of the map mod you have, I feel like one of your farm pictures should show a crop circle or something

I don't normally do teaser pics, but I thought I would show you two of them.

Part of Caxton is going to be overflow development from Wickham. Wickham is in GY33, so I'm going to try to take this tile I just started working on to match the development of a tile I've been working on. That means alot of the farms that would be started, will already have been redeveloped into different things.

I have more pictures from Wickham today.

Residential demand has hit an all time high and so has agricultural demand. But houses continue to be built on land that was farmland. Traffic is increasing as well and so bus stops were built all over the city.

(sorry for the pictures being rotated different ways, I'm usually careful about that.)

In the central area of Wickham, new development has taken place. A customs house was built. A hi-rise then grew on the medium residential lot. An unzoned lot then was zoned medium residential and another hi-rise grew. Then because of the success of the medium res zoning, another lot was rezoned. But this time a tenement appeared. Oh well. A new school was built across the street from the old one, and the old school site was zoned medium commercial. A High School was also built.

You may have noticed the propless bsc church. It does that in my cities for some reason and I'm clueless as to why. Also, if the school lot looks a little different to you, that's because it is. I shrunk the lot from a 4x4 down to a 3x4 and moved the props around and added CP trees and bushes.

Sorry about taking so long for another update. I've spent this time finding a wall that would fit in with the city. Then, it took me a few days to prep the city. I only have one picture and it's of Wickham.

Nice burbs

It's been a while since I've posted in here. I continue to develop the Wicke Region, and have been developing Caxton recently.

Wickham kept growing to the south and new development overflowed into the district of Caxton. Like Wickham, Caxton had a highway running through it, but east-west rather than the south-north that Wickham has. Before growth spilled over from Wickham, Caxton had developed a small commercial district and a few residential areas.

I will show two pictures of Caxton.
The first is one I've shown before many months ago, but I will show it again in order to show the growth that's been happening in Caxton. This picture is just after growth from Wickham entered Caxton and started to replace farms with houses...


The second picture is a new one, and in it, the central farms have been replaced with houses, a school has been built, more commercial has developed, and some Industry has come to Caxton along the road south of the highway...
