Called "The Nations City" Teddy City is the National Capital. Downtown has gotten a makeover since the 1990's thanks to the "City Beautification Association". As the city grows downtown gains supremacy in the city as a mecca for residents and thus Highrise apartment buildings continue to grow in the city.
Teddy City- A national Capital 22501875
First is an overview of the section of downtown we'll observe. I've chosen the 2 major high points of the area for this. After all who wants to see rundown right? The 2 major parts you'll see came as a result of the city beautification projects work.
Teddy City- A national Capital 53266059
First is Gerimore Park. Named for Bradley Garimore the mayor who started the project. He died in 1985 at the age of 80 while still in office. Beautifully appointed- Garimore Park is an example of open space and recreation in the big city.
Teddy City- A national Capital 37963491
The number 1 tourist destination- The Royal Palace- built in 1655 and beautified by the association- the palace was once rundown despite the royal family living there at the time. In 1995 full grown trees were shipped in and planted along Ravenwood- downtown's main road. Now the palace is the once proud place again and tourists to the city come to take in the breathtaking view and "Fountain Park"

Thats the end of this segment of downtown- hope you enjoyed.

While many think Teddy City is all bluff and no stuff well they'd be wrong- Welcome to St James Swamp Natural Preserve. The last of Teddy City's original terrain left is protected by the Rare Lands act of 1923- the equivalent to a National Parks act.
While not a nature preserve, the ecosystem of the region is unique- Teddy City is in the so called Snow Belt, yet like any place it has a hidden surprise. In this case- a swamp.
Becoming a preserve in 1961 after homes and businesses started to engulf the swamp- parts were set aside- this allowed for limited usage in terms of zone usage, and allowed the airport to be built, but also prevented to much population from finishing off the rest of the swamp, Thus allowing for people to enjoy nature in there own back yard. two express roads were built to accommodate summer traffic while in winter facilities are closed but residential and businesses remain occupied. While this may sound confusing- its not. The local populace voted on an ordinance that allowed for such activity. Interesting to some that Teddy City is the national Capital and yet it boasts the swamp in its brochures, rather then other things of equal or greater importance. The reason behind this is to allow the visitors an idea of the local terrain and tourism while allowing them to wonder the city looking at the site.It seems to work as many tend to do just that- they show up to see the swamp and discover a lot more.
Teddy City- A national Capital 51682146
Teddy City- A national Capital 66765083
Barekmore Picnic Grounds- A great stopping point in the park- the picnic grounds features a cabin with chamber of commerce and is a great way to really see the park. Here many wonder into the cat tails to get a closer look. Not always advisable but not prohibited. No one has gotten seriously injured while doing so- so until that time- rangers won't prohibit such activity. However- all fires must be put out to avoid wild fires or a fine of $1500 will be observed if you are caught. There are cameras watching on the cabin.
Teddy City- A national Capital 96851478
St James Swamp tollroad- one of the 2 expressways. This is the main entry to the park and is the closest to the airport.

Well that's it- hope you enjoyed your tour of St James Swamp-Don't forget to wipe any mud off your shoes in order to leave the park behind- after all who'd want to take the park with them right?

A beautifully designed raised road/ highway combination that takes travelers around the metro area rather the through it- the Hooker Bypass was designed by its namesake in 1967 and named for him after he was ironicly killed be a falling beam during the first phase of consturction in 1971. While it lacks exits- the roads are placed in areas theat are already raised and therefore avenues were placed to make getting to hotels and gas easier. This came after complaints at verious parts ot the bypass where no exits were designed and so to compinsate Bvlds are used with cross roads. The bypass is used to help travelers get around without going through the metro area. While it can be viewed from its earthen embankment one thing it lacks is the commuter traffic. as Phase 7 of the bypass connects to the Swampland Tollway in april, 2013, it'll be the completion. But in the meantime temperary exit ramps are placed.
Teddy City- A national Capital 34416804
A rainstorm promped the Teddy City Urban Protection Agency to act. So the had retaining walls instead of grass added to the sides. It gives a much smoother look. The last 2 pics show just how the design worked to improve the area in aestetics.
Teddy City- A national Capital 98384059
The Teddy City Convention and Visitors Center overlooks the bypass and its signature wall.
Teddy City- A national Capital 54906572
And finally Kings 91 and the bypass interchange make for a pleasant transition.

ok this time around i thought I'd show some of Teddy City's neighborhoods. First we will see Blackpool Estates-

Blackpool Estates

Founded in 1989 Blackpool Estates in recent years has been in decline- some people can't find jobs and thus many places are abandoned- all that will soon change however as the city will begin to offer jobs to people in those neighborhoods where joibs are in decline do to a massive expantion project called "Operation Go Forward"
The nieghborhoods main Road is Bride Parkway- a 6 lane expresstype road with business and industry lining its boundry.
Teddy City- A national Capital 93785244
Chrystal Park
Located in the hights area is the Chystal Park Subdivsion- One of the city's unique neighborhoods its plan consists of upper middle class housing and retaining walls were added in the 1990's after a massive flood took out much of the homes located in the hills. Jobs are plentiful along the city's John A. Hooker Memorial Bypass (see update 4) and the economy in this part is booming.
Teddy City- A national Capital 25126191
Central Park
While oddly named ( Not in the center of the city or near a park) this urban paradise is a nice neighborhood where kids play in the streets and homes are middle class. Located near many restuarants and businesses, he neighborhood thrives on its businesses for support. Beautifully designed and easy access to Kings 56- Central Park is an up and coming nieghborhood thats perfect for the whole family.
Teddy City- A national Capital 66708919
And a couple of Extras
The John A Hooker Memorial Bypass is now completed and open to the public. Connecting to the swampland Tollway it now features a forested 4 point interchange over the main highway Kings 95.(see updates 3 and 4)
Teddy City- A national Capital 94088007
And even the Swampland Tollroad got a facelift- A new interchange (see update 3)
Teddy City- A national Capital 13446032

Hope you enjoyed the latest tour.

Thanks to all those who view and support my now award winning CJ. Winner- DDOM March, 2013
The Teddy City water front is a great example of business in frieght- located 50 miles from the Ocean- the city is a bustling mecca for ships of all kinds. Steam is still popular here and both steam and standard diesel ships are found along the docks.- our First stop- The Light Station and piolet boats.

Ships park facing north as they enter the city- This is designed for easy access for piolet boats.
Teddy City- A national Capital 19440670
Next is the Light Station as seen after dark- The willow trees glow in its light- A sign of the swamp still alive and well along the waterfront.
Teddy City- A national Capital 30293469
The North Docks and a steamer ready to leave- The tugs are made fast and get ready to tow it out of the docks- The piolet is aboard and ready to take her out to the canals out of town.

Teddy City- A national Capital 67454310
And finally- The North Docks. Again a steam ship makes an appearence. This frieght only dock is an example of a booming econimy. The docks are downtown and tourists love staying at hotelslining the waters. The palace is her as well. This is Water Street. One of the busiest streets in the city.

Teddy City- A national Capital 17215672Well I hope you enjoyed the latest update.
