Mine was when I was going through changing all my usernames on forums (since I figured disclosing first/last name wasn't safe) and Cheeseguy came into my mind. I was the one that was called [removed] before until it was changed. Which I allready stated where that came from.

My three most common usernames are Blakesterville, Captain_GNU, and BKA. Blakesterville being most common.

I registered at Simtropolis a while back, unaware of the forums there. I just wanted to download stuff from the STEX. I wish I would have gone with something different from the start had I known how active I would have been there at the forums.

I registered under the same username here because I didn't want Mayorm to wonder where I was. (I promised him that I would join.) I used my normal username to prevent confusion. When the site moved, I re-registered as Captain_GNU, but then the site moved back and I had to use my old username again.

For those of you who don't know, I changed Cheeseguy's username this afternoon (Obviously, this was by his request, not by administrative decision).

My username... haha, well one day about 5 or 6 years ago I was making an account name for my Battlefield 2 game and all the names I chose were already used so I hit random numbers and the numbers just happen to be... "7499275" so it stuck from there.

I craft towns so I became Towncrafter.
That isn't the origin of the name though.
I used to be greckman which is a name I use on my computer as a username for games. When I started signing up on websites I had a tough time coming up with a username I liked. I came up with towncrafter at the time but I didn't like it because "I build cities and towns are so inferior". Yeah, I really thought that back then. Anyway, I hated greckman as my username so I started looking around my apartment. I looked everywhere. Well, I got to my dresser, and JC Penney has a brand of clothing called Towncraft. By that time I realized I build towns, so I added the -er and Towncrafter was born. It was about a month later that I remembered I had come up with the name months before and had rejected it.
As for where greckman came from? In junior high, a friend of mine called me Grecko. (No I'm not greek. It rhymes with gecko.) Years later I started using it on my computer but without the -o. Eventually I added the -man.

Mine is of the town that I live near / in. It is an Official Chav Town (I AM NOT A CHAV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ). It also represents a lot of my friends and is a big tribute to them

Mine is a remix of my middle name, and just decided to add a 10 after.

Mine was originally a remix of my first name, but I removed the remixed part of it.

My original username on Simtropolis reflected my real name as well, and was rather stupid. After awhile on CSGforums, I changed it to CoastRunner to reflect the two parts of me I felt were important, I love sports and running, and I grew up by the coast. I shorten it to Costa a lot when I'm in chatrooms, both as an abbreviation and as a tribute to my part-Mexican cousins that were at that moment still living in San Luis Potosi, though they are now in the United States so the older one can attend college here.

It's neat to see where everyone's names came from.

On SM and basically every other forum site besides Simtropolis, I'm "Edge". The name originated as a nickname by some members of the community because I'd take forever to finish my uploads, and I kept everyone who was waiting for them on edge.

Yes, it's a very unknown story, so I figured I'd share it. It's a common word, but practically non-existent when it comes to usernames on our sites.

At least yours can be explained That can't exactly be said of my ST screen name, sadly (actually it can, but it's a long story )

It is funny how a simple name could have its own backstory, instead of just being born with it.
