Although many of you peeps may be exited with the coming of sc5 4 days from the writing of this post, you have to ask yourself with the future of sc4. What is going to happen with it? We are not sure, we are not even sure whether if its going to sink or swim. With some poor reviews of the beta, high prices, and skeptical assumptions, we may or may not be in for a surprise.

But back to topic. The question is of what is going to happen with sc4, all of those high priced mods, ST is a rather large website that depends on people to pay for the server, and with people leaving for the other games, CXL, SC5, and others, it could happen that ST could close, at least the forums or grow smaller over time eventually closing. SC4D is about the same story but has a different story, either the forums close and the exchange is left aside, since its a separate server. Either way, when the sites start limiting or closing, the available number of mods will shorten and disappear, not that I mean people to go rampaging the STEX or LEX right now, but they should start stocking on goodies for sc4 now IF those dark days happen to come. Additionally, you may want to get a second copy of SC4 if it happens to break.
Although I am cutting it short here, this discussion can be continued on this topic. Post your ideas and predictions.

Thanks,
LC, VC

I expect SC4 to last at least a couple more years. If the community is to survive, it will depend heavily on sc2013, however. I'm hoping it all turns out for the best.

I think it depends on how modable it is. I'm sure within the first several years of SC2013, SC4 will be phased out. Or SC4 could just go under immediately. or SC2013 could go under and the whole community is dragged down with it. We'll just have to wait and see.

To me, the online component is its biggest mistake. If they build the offline component, larger city sizes and easier modding should come with it. We'll just have to see what happens.

Yup, hopefully there will remain a stable small community to support the game for the future...
